As Songkran festival and the beauty pageant have just concluded, the subject of beautiful women and what Thais considered beautiful have come up lately. I thought I would share with you how traditional beauty is supposed to be. I say 'suppose' because it seems these characteristics of ideal beauty are not the criteria for judging in beauty pageants. Traditionally, mostly mentioned in literature, beautiful women should have these five characteristics:
1) Beautiful hair, long sleek, and shiny. 2) Beautiful teeth, strong white and even. 3) Beautiful flesh manifested by red lips by nature. 4) Beautiful skin, no blamishes. 5) Beautiful age, no matter what age she is, she wears it well. When I look at these characteristics, most healthy women are beautiful. |

I think a lady with these five specifications is better for guys though ..... รวย ( rich) - not true although I won't mind. สวย (beautiful) - first impression maybe. หมวย (Chinese look) - not true. I'm a fan of Paula Taylor. อึ๋ม (big breast) - anything more than a handful is excessive. |

I choose to believe there is something beautiful to be found in most women no matter what corner of the world they come from. When I think about her it isn't about her chest size, perfect teeth, or the little place at her neck that I love to call home. These things pass in time and are more about fascination than appreciation. To me, her beauty lies in the depth of her eyes and the words we say to one another without the sound of our voices. I find it in the sweetness of her touch or the way she looks at a child.

Saying นมให*่ should be among men only, hope you don't say it in front of women Their minds are thinking of big boobs, not the body I am sure that my friends that use อึ๋ม (eum) actually mean more than just boobs, they tend to mean girls with a "fuller figure" (butt included) |

Everyone has an ideal I suppose, but none of us are perfect and we're all not getting any younger. This thinking about beauty and view of women is more about ownership than appreciation. In a room full of women I wouldn't necessarily pick out or be looking for physical form unless I was only interested in someone for the evening. I would also consider the other person's manner or the way we interact and she carries herself. I'm in my mid 30's and women aren't just about body parts to me at this point in my life. I hope to meet someone I'll find beautiful even when we both find ourselves in old age.
