Take a look at the video of a series of commercials on this page:
http://seedang.com/stories/13097 It is for AXE body deodorant spray. They have done some risky version in the past but the opinion is that they have gone too sexy now with too many suggestions of sexual activity. I think it was pretty funny (if you don't take it seriously), particularly the last one, but maybe a few images were unnecessary and could be deleted without losing the affect. To me this is more harmless than say some of the woman battering scenes seen in the soap operas either side of these commercials. What do you think? |

HAHAHAHA i think its funny too in the sense that its melodramatic, really "over" as what most Thais will say. There's a similar plot for some brand of breathe mint drops wasn't it? Where the man just pops in a few mint drops and blows his breathe away while going to places, passer bys would respond in a way like as if they're physically attracted to him in particular, probably cos of what he's chewing on. The last part, I happen to see a passer by, a MAN to be exact, reacting the same way as the female passerbys. HAHAH, what was that?
Anyway, I agree with Richard, those commercial clips are far more harmless than those soapy dramas ( eg, sawan biang ). And yet I wonder why the commercial got banned and yet the drama itself was left un-edited, like probably not emphasizing on filming those 'A' rated scenes, cut them away or something. I think its probably the cause of the outrage in raping cases over there, just like a few threads back when we're discussing about the consequences of those thai lakorns. " Monkey see, monkey do. " Really puzzled by how the entertainment biz works over there. Was it intentional ? =/ Maybe they're more interested in the profits they're gonna rake in than the misunderstandings between viewers and themselves. -_- |

I am not sure about the soap drama you mention since I cannot see them. But I think I have a clue about the rationale that the rule makers have. If you glamourise sex as the winning element of a story its not correct. If bad things are shown but eventually the 'good' triumph its OK. That could include negativities like rape etc...
