People often travel great distances to make merit at a famous place of worship or particularly auspicious shrine. And the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has just come to their aid with a useful little Thai-language guide called 108 Senthang Aom Boon (108 Routes for Making Merit).

Divided into eight chapters, the book recommends not only Buddhist temples, but also Chinese shrines, Christian churches and Muslim mosques throughout the country.

If you want to know where to pray for luck in love, success in business or an end to your financial problems, this book will point you in the right direction. It gives information on the history of the various religious sites, on belief systems and devotional etiquette, plus maps and the dates on which important rites and ceremonies are held.

Priced at 250 baht, it is available from TAT headquarters and from Bangchak petrol stations nationwide.
