Market research will show you that Slovenia and many other countries are better bets than here. ANd a lot easier to do business in as well. Isn't that where the movie "Hostle" was sopposed to take place. No thanks. I don't want to be tortured and chopped up by some insane doctor wanna-be.

Just kidding. I'll read up on this place.

Ask the BOI anout investing here, to start with the minimum company deal is 2 million, but a Thal must be registered for 51% of that and PROVE he has put that much in. If applying for BOI, you can go ahead and start setting up 100% foreign owned, but if you don't get that BOI approval then get ready to deal with legal fees and more legal fees.

If it's all about location, and you open a hotel in Phuket or other heavily touristed areas, then your shot at BOI approval may be slim-to-nill. Get a good BOI expert to help you develop your application if that's the route you want to take.

Chai, who are you? I'm the standard issue white American male... my real name gives that away, and I'm having a very hard time finding a job in America right now. Damn the companies that receive those dag-nab "Diversity Inc." awards!!! I should change my real name to Jamal Hendrix or Shatika Johnson. If you know what I'm talking about, god bless you. (Lenss, are you more or less confused now)?

Default Canadian owned thai hotel
Myself and several other inverters are considering leasing land and building a hotel in Thailand. I was wondering if any one who is not Thai has started a business, or if any one knows if it is even possible?

Sure it's possible. You should be able to start up just fine. Just make sure your inverters don't flip on you. (I'm sorry. I know you meant to say investors. I do the same thing all the time).

Anyways, because your business is dealing with a land lease, I'd recommend making sure you get a lawyer who is very experienced in lease contracts. The actual business registration part is a cakewalk, but I'd stick with a reputible firm anyways. Normally I wouldn't say this about any company, but I'll make an exception for this one--I would be very cautious about using that company called Sunbelt to handle your set-up. Good luck.

How original, well as the saying goes location, location, location.
My first query why Thailand, I would build a hotel in Slovenia, same economic climate, cheap labour, and tourism is booming.
Ask the BOI anout investing here, to start with the minimum company deal is 2 million, but a Thal must be registered for 51% of that and PROVE he has put that much in.
For your type of company it would be more like 20 million, do you have a Thai invester with 11 million Baht? I doubt it

SO you decide on Thailand and have a Thai partner, now where in Thailand???
20 million Baht is a small hotel, and land on the beach would cost more than that, so you go inland - where????

Mate I'll find you a site and do the market research better than any rip off Thai can do, and I'll do it for next to nothing, to stop you coming here only to end up on this forum crying that you had been ripped off.

Market research will show you that Slovenia and many other countries are better bets than here. ANd a lot easier to do business in as well.
Bloody hotel for crisssakes!!!
