When I was a kid we were told that the monk in the monastery (dharamsala) will tell us our problem just by checking our pulse... ( But after he prescribed natural medicines--to be bought in the same center-- that cost a fortune, they started to get depressed.) |

Six mechanisms of classical mindfulness will be identified and we will discuss how they can be used to develop mindfulness as well as learn how to apply the benefits of mindfulness to daily stress and anxiety. We will also discuss some of the innovative ways of developing mindfulness skills that we are exploring at UCLA in order to help patients with severe psychiatric disorders benefit from mindfulness. 2. "Introduction to the theory and practice of nutrition for good health" by Dr. Dickey P. Nyerongsha According to Tibetan medicine, the first choice of treatment is naturopathic and consists of nutrition and behavioral therapy. The lecture will seek to present the theory that underlies the practice of healthy nutrition, how a patient is assessed to determine the type of nutrition that is appropriate, and then the type of nutrition he or she needs to engage in depending on the type of constitutional factors and the nature of disorder. We will also talk about how to regulate nutrition during the changing seasons and how to prepare, cook and combine food. ** The talks will be in English, with translation into Thai.
