I order VCDs almost every week & have never had a problem.

I praise the Thai postal service & Thai Airways for fast & efficient delivery to Australia.

I usually have the goods within a week, and that is after a delay in Australian Customs.

Default Thai mail service
is there a way of sending post to an address in Thailand that actually gets there, and out of Thailand too. I sent 4 post cards from Thailand to UK, 1 post card arrived within 3 days, the other 3 have never made it. That was 6 weeks ago.

I posted a parcel (1st class airmail) 2 weeks ago and it has still not arrived, does one have to pay for a courier to make sure the post gets there?

Just wandered if this was the norm?

Last week a parcel I sent to Thailand arrived within one week, but sometimes it takes a few weeks. Until now, everything I have sent was received, but sometimes it takes quite long. Be patient, things will arrive eventually.

I once sent a postcard to my family in Switzerland from a quite remote region in Thailand... when I went home a few weeks later it was not there yet - it arrived about three months later. But I don't think that's the norm.

I always put two address labels on postage goiing to Thailand; one in English and the other in Thai. I have never had any problems or serious delays. Most of the stuff I send goes to a house outside a small rural village, so if it can get there it should be able to get anywhere.

i bought the stamps seperately and posted the 4 cards in the same post box, when mum told me over the phone she received the card a couple of days later i thought "wow the post works", then on my return i discovered the other 3 had not arrived and same till now weeks later.

Weird ! I have no explanation for that one !
Except-possibly one went airmail and the rest have gone by sea and will arrive soon.
I have had stuff go missing when sent toThailand - letters etc-but I recently sent Richard a package of used postage stamps and it arrived safely and quickly.

It also seems o depend on the particular Thai post office serving the area you are mailing to. My wife sends cards every month to her friend in On-Nut, they arrive within a week without fail. Mail to other parts of Bangkok and beyond may or may not arrive. For some of the mail it's been 6 months, maybe it's diverted to the Anglo-Indonesian rubbish dumps ?

I have had things go and come quickly and have had some that never made it going either way.
I have some from the states that were sent "Next day priority mail" and they were told that it would take 4 days to Thailand, and it took over 3 weeks, and some sent the same that made it in a week.
I have sent letters to Philippines EMS that were supposed to be there in a few days that took a month at 800 baht postage.

When you mail, or expect to receive mail here you are just getting in a crap game with no sure outcome.

I have never had problems sending mail either way until recently. 1 recent package from Bangkok to UK failed to arrive at all (though many others did get through), my last FOUR mailings from UK to various addresses around Bangkok have also failed to arrive!

I also posted a package international registered on 3rd October to Bangkok and so far (16th) that hasnt been delivered either (still time for this one though as past experience has shown)

Pity I cant use email for all my correspondence

How did you send the 3 postcards that did not arrive? -You did not accept a kind offer from the receptionist at your hotel to stamp and post the cards for you after paying for the stamps, did you? Sorry to ask-but I know people who have been caught out by this scam while staying in good quality hotels.

I know from my own personal experience, I once sent about 5 postcards and only two of them arrived to NY. One of them quite quickly - just a few days. The other showed up after about a month. Still haven't recieved the others?

I find that sending things to BKK is no problem and typically gets there safely. Sending to more rural areas forget about it!
