Do you read/write/speak Chinese?

P.S.

No need to reply. I already got the answer to my (unstated) question.

- the ticket-seller on Bangkok buses, shaking the coins in that cylindrical box
- endless Thai folk-pop music on night buses
- the little tune played by motorcycle ice cream vendors
C'mon Betti the last noise is one of the best noises in Thailand, especially on a really baking hot day. How happy does everyone look in the attached photo?

It appears to me that Betti was not making any judgement of the noises she listed-I could be wrong.

that's right - no judgement there. the thread started out with annoying sounds but I guess any sound depends on the circumstances! e.g. when prathom students were rehearsing their dance right outside our kindergarten window for the 20th time, I didn't find "phor haeng paendin" anything nice at all (must have been the most typical sound of Thailand in the past month or so!)

btw, it's a nice pic. once an ice cream vendor with a motorcycle like this saved my life - it was my first time in Sukhothai and I had no idea the vans back to the city stop at sunset. got my fair share of the tune then!

Sorry, my mistake.

Ok this one is a bit personal.

The sound of the needle as it pricks the skin while a Sak Yan is being applied. No machine noise , no talking, just streched skin being pricked!!

No I mean in the actual station, near the squeezed juice, coffee, pizza stalls. Green Music. Yes it is generally drowned out by the bustle and noise but as you walk by it you can always hear the strains of it, and it is always the same tune.

when I take the BTS, it's always some veryyyyy louddddd advertisement! and the windows taped up with those ads, and sometimes two different ads screaming in your ears, it's like a "consumption society" brainwashing.
