Default Where is the link about the hot spring village?
I apologise for starting this new thread, but I couldn't find the link which is about the place with hot spring ( may be from khun Don's or Richard's suggestion). Could you please kindly post the link again? Is it also a good time to visit during late December? Thank you very much.

Eryn

hmmm... not quite positive, this info is a lot shorter. The one I stumbled upon said that the place looked like a little Switzerland and you knew if you were close because of the smell of sulfur. You mean there are more than one hot spring in Thailand? Maybe the one I was thinking is in Phang? It's also about eco-tour.

LOL Yeah..you 're right! The hot spring one is in Chaingrai! I only saw the pictures of the bathhouse from the old post at where you put the link ( http://www.chiangmai-chiangrai.com/b...gh_living.html ). I love the highland village picture; hence, I'm going to propose`this Bann to my folk for our cerebrating X'mas winter break in Thailand. Oh, Thankx for correcting me about hot spring; otherwise, I'd have gone babbling about it before going there and find out it isn't there!

Ah! Ban Maekamphong-but there is no hot spring there!
Anyway, here is a pic of the village shop at Ban Maekamphong so you can get an idea of the "Alpine" feel.

Good Call! I am sure you will like the village and it's cafe which Agent Cooper(Twin Peaks") would say serves "damn fine coffee". I trust you know the accom is "homestay" and as such, basic.

Don't know about choosing the futon-but the moped is owned by the owners of the cafe (pictured). You can also just see their married daughter and grandchild

Re: Interesting places to visit in chiang mai

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you been up to Wat Phra Doi Suthep -it is quite easy to reach by public or private transport and there is a lift installed so you do not have to tramp up the 200 odd steps from the road. Don't go at weekends-half of Bangkok is in town and a visit to the Wat by such is almost compulsory. Trips to look around nearby Lampang and Lamphun are quite easy also.
I have also visited this place for a day and was impressed with the tranquility of it-the almost alpine scenery and some of the buildings reminded me a little of Switzerland. I can highly recommend sitting in the open sided village cafe drinking coffee-the best I have ever had- made from beans grown in the village, though it is a bit hilly on the outskirts it is nice to stroll around what is essentially an ordinary but interesting village not spoilt by tourism. People are very friendly.
(I am aged 60, incidentally, -noting your comment about not being "too energetic"! )
