Another forum that is not about Thailand has a thread with a subject like this. The things are random facts, usually something mostly unique.
In case this seems like an interesting idea, here's 1 thing about Thailand: 1. A product known as shellac is produced by harvesting secretions from a "lac insect" that appers in Thailand as well as a few other places. Here's a picture and cross-section drawing of "lac" on a plant: http://vietsciences.free.fr/timhieu/...uacanhkien.htm Edit: I think my wording was unclear. I was suggesting that people add factoids, so that this thread will end up containing 100 facts about Thailand (or Thai language or culture). Do you know something about Thailand or Thai language or Thai culture? |

2. The smallest mammal according to its skull size is Kitti's Hog-Nosed Bat aka Bumblebee bat. With scientific name Craseonycteris Thonglongyai, it was first discovered in Kanchanaburi province, Thailand by Mr. Kitti Thonglongya.

Hi. I learnt the words for Thunder and Lightning the other day from my Thai teacher. Later, when we were in a storm I couldn't remember them and asked my wife, Kanchana. She wouldn't tell me. As it turns out, many Thai people will not say those words during a storm as they fear they are inviting the lightning to come to them.
