Default tatoo in Thailand
Hello,
I am off to tour Thailand for three weeks in November. I know that showing the bottom of the foot and pointing with your feet is very rude in Thailand. I have a tatoo on the top of my foot of Tibetan Buddhist knot . Do you think Thai Buddhist's will take offense? Does anyone know if the sacred head and lowly feet belief is prevalent throughout Buddhism or is it a predominantly a Thai norm?
Thank you. DMD

Thai Buddhism is Theravada Buddhism-very different from Tibetan Buddhism, which has elements of Tantra and the ancient Bon religion in it.
It is highly probable that Thais are totally unaware of what the Tibetan knot represents.

I agree with Khun Don, I don't think many Thais aware of Tibetan knot. Your tattoo will just be viewed as a pattern of some kind with no special meaning so don't be too worried about that.

Thank you for the reassurance! The last thing I want to do is offen my hosts!
Although my tattoo has a special family meaning to me I should have taken more consideration. DMD
