It was at the mian site - think the Grand Palace, or probably Wat Phra Kaeo. It was just before we went to the thai massage school on site for a foot massage.

Default Lotus Flower on head?
Just wanted to know if anyone could spread some light on a good luck charm, and indeed whether it is.

We were in Bangkok in January and after we came out of on of the temples, there were lotus flowers that you dipped in water and tapped on your head for good luck. Everyone seemed to be doing it. The tour guide said it was for luck, but I havent been able to find anything confirming this, on the net or otherwise.

Does anyone have any confirmation on this and also the significance of it?

Thanks in advance

Wat Pho is the temple with the foot massage.

but I remember seeing the same in front of Wat Phra Kaew too, I was even asked by a Thai family to take their photos! they did it for their baby, and for themselves too.

I found these photos on the net

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that monks used lotus flowers. I just meant the monk would normally do the blessing.

Thanks Betti for the good investigative work in finding those pictures. It does look like they are blessing themselves with holy water. Normally the monk would do this. Maybe it is done like this at Wat Phra Kaew as there are no resident monks?

Whch temple was this? The only thing I can think of is sealing inside your body the good luck you just created from making merit at the temple. You sometimes see Thai people run their fingers through their hair after making merit. Though I have never heard of hitting yourself on the head with a lotus flower!

do monks sometimes use a lotus for blessing people? I have only seen bunches of sticks for this purpose.
