Yes, its a pity that Tibet does not get any attention. Dalai Lama & his movement chooses a path of peace in a world full of short fuse. Wonder if there is a way for good spirits? But then maybe its not in vain - for he probably finds a new world in those who share his ideals?
For some, who are interested here, one can visit : http://www.tibet.org/ or http://www.heartibet.org ![]() This shell is an image that people in solidarity carry in their personal web-pages. Just found out myself! |

Last week I was in Dharamsala, in North India and I spent some time in the town where Dalai Lama lives (McLeodgunj). Amazing its only 2 hours away from my native house! I knew it always but never realised it!!
If someone is interested in the temple pictures of the Tibetian temple & Buddha's images there you can check my photos at Temple pictures - Dharamsala Some pictures are of the scenery... Since I have a dial up I could not load large pictures. So, sorry for the drop in quality. ![]() |

Unfortunately, most Thais are oblivoius to the carnage and cultural destruction of this great country.
You can not blame the Thais however as the education system here ( same goes for the west) does not teach anything about Tibet's history. Same goes for the barbaric attrocities of Pol Pot's Kampuchea, Pinoche's Chile's, Mao Tse Tung's Communist China, Stalin's Russia, Idi Amin's Uganda etc...(unlike Germany's!) Perhaps Tibet never had any oil or economical infleunce for the world to care about. Only East Timor and Cambodia are above Tibet in regards to holding the infamous records of 'percentage of population killed'. Yes Trangam, the hill-tribes of Thailand such as the 'Lee-saw' (from the top of my head) etc.. are of Tibetan origin but who gives a darned. The whole world has never given a darned about the fate of Tibet so no-one can single Thailand out for turning a blind eye. Tibet 'til this day is classified as an illegally occupied country but who's gonna dare argue with the Chinese government and their economical power. The Dalai Lama is one of my idols and a legend that lives along side the likes of Mahathmar Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Aung San Suu Kyi etc... Dharamsala in India is one of the nicest places iv'e ever been to. Home to the Dalai Lama it is a must for every traveller interested in Buddhism. Free Tibet* |

While all kind of terrorists take over the media and mindshare of the world, Tibet is a quiet subject. Dalai Lama, who runs a non-violent struggle was age 70 this month in the process. Today, he is also ready to take a 'realistic' & practical approach to the problem with China.
India which has many tibetians living here, is going cool on the subject so that we get closer to China. I do not know what that means to Tibet people. We have a Tibetian town near my city. What has been Thailand's history/position with regard to Tibet - a buddhist place? I read somewhere that a tribe in Thailand has its origin from Tibet... |
