Quote[/b] ]The company spent Bt6 million for the show’s copyright and sought Bt50 million from the Board of Investment for production costs.
Considering, the amount of weeks big bother runs, advertising revenue must pay for that cost many times over.

Just go for a walk down walking street Pattaya, and you will see more than this, but live, I say who cares, If some one wants to watch this, that there business.

Default House panel wants ‘big brother’ axed
House panel wants ‘Big Brother’ axed
The Nation, Published on May 27, 2005

The House committee on religion, arts and culture is pushing for the Broadcast Censor Board to discontinue the reality television show “Big Brother” for allegedly presenting programming that promotes immoral values, an official said yesterday.

Ladda Tangsupachai, director of the Culture Watch Centre, said the committee had voted unanimously to pressure the board into pulling “Big Brother” from UBC and iTV.

The programme drew flak after two of the contestants began acting like lovers and were often seen lying together on the sofa or under the covers in bed.

She said the panel had invited her as a representative of the Culture Ministry to discuss the controversy and she agreed that the programme had shown improper conduct such as gossiping, hypocritical behaviour, affection in public as well as revealing styles of dress.

“This conduct is against Thai social values and the Broadcast Censor Board has warned the producer, but the same content continues,” she said.

The Kantana Group, which produces the programme, had earlier countered that the contestants’ actions give the reality show its charm and that viewers are able to see both the good and dark sides of people.

Ladda said producers cited business reasons in their need to boost ratings. The company spent Bt6 million for the show’s copyright and sought Bt50 million from the Board of Investment for production costs.

The House committee is also considering pushing for other reality shows to be axed such as “Hi So Ban Nok” (“Upcountry Hi-So”), a programme that it believes contains improper content.
