Have you ever visited Thailand? Do you speak Thai? What is your standard of living like? Your profession? The answers to these questions will have a lot to do with your original questions. Some people need more than others to get by on, in terms of both money and conveniences. So yes, it will also depend on where you want to live. Other than that... I don't have any very good specific information for you, sorry! Good luck!

(btw- also, are you a Thai citizen?)

Ok. Again, I don't have any real specific info for you. But I would say that if your income from the property you own is sufficient to support you here, then you will find that you will be more than able to live in Thailand.
I really can't say what homes or property cost anywhere in the country, but in my experience outside of BKK, you can rent VERY modest "apartments" (basically hotel rooms) for as little as 50-60 dollars/month. Price goes up from there of course, and I really don't know about houses. Hopefully, someone else will reply you with better information, but my best advice would be for you to take a trip to Thailand, travel around to places you've read about, or think you'd like to live, and then do some research. If you can stay for a month, perhaps you could even rent a place and try it out. Good luck!

I think there in Nashville where you living there is a Thai-community, try to make contact with this people. There is even a Thai-restaurant in Nashville.
This forum can give you a lot of information.
And about the costs in Thailand, there are people who have nothing and there are people who have everything.
When you come from the USA you don't have to think about the costs of living, surely when you speak you own small shopping centers.
Chock dee (good luck).

Dirk.
