Having been a visitor to My wife's family home in samutprakarn for many many years,it is sad to see it change so much.Jamrat's father lives by the canal, when I first visited there wasn't a footpath and we reached it by boat. There was a very rickety footbridge which was only one plank wide and could not support my weight. Now there is several footbridges and concrete footpaths, which motorbikes use as well as pedestrians.
The surrounding area was rice fields and was very scenic. Now however all you can see now is rich peoples brand new very big houses, surrounded by a high wall.It is strange to see these big houses built next to what looks like an old shack, but is actualy someones home.I understand that the developers pay them off to move away. Unfortunately this is the price of modern living and will eventualy be seen as progress.I do feel a little guilty as we are also awaiting the completion of our house in Panason city. |
