Default Walking street pattaya
One of my highlights when going to Thailand, is going for a stroll down "Walking Street Pattaya", with my Thai friends. The vibrant feel excites me, viewing the sights, listening to the music, people watching while having a soft drink (well I don't drink alcohol) and having some thing to eat.
Now I have been hearing roomers, that because the real-estate is becoming more and more valuable, that they want to close Walking Street Pattaya and replace it with Hotels and condominiums.
Now I have herd the time period for Walking Street to close, could be as soon as late 2006 or early 2007.
Now how do the people on this forum feel about this situation, how would you feel if Walking Street Closed down, as I know, to some people this is the only form of regular exercise they get when in Thailand. Has any one else herd about these roomers.
Very worried.

prolly not because walking street is one of the attractions in pattaya...

furthermore, it is a street.. how can u close a street? What'll happen to all the restuarants and pubs and bars along the street? What'll happen to the jobs of these people working there?

conclusion... just a rumour....

I must admit, i have had fun too gawking at all the Farang guys touching up ladyboys when they thought they were real women and having a laugh at the Arabs watering at the mouth at just the slightest sight of a lady's flesh. At the end of the day, Pattaya has to develop, get rid of a lot of the sleaze and become a more family place, I for one would be very happy to see the back of Walking Street.

As for the restaurants etc.. they can shift elsewhere, as for the go-gos and greasy hooker-packed discos, they ought to be closed down forever.

I'd prefer that foreigners come to Thailand for other attactions besides a three letter word that begins with an 'S' and ends in an 'X'.

steve steve steve what would pataya be without the sex. a third rate tourist spot with nasty beaches. while i agree and i am sick of the thailand stigma that i encounter in the states. I truly believe that it is better to have concnetrations of prostitution as opposed to more widespread diffusion. in all honesty I don't believe you can be rid of it so you might as well keep in compacted. That said the best thing for me about widespread prostitution is the effect it has on the women, not in the trade, who know full well that if they are not aggresive you can always pay the $$$.

As far as I can remember the Red Sox are from Boston and I think PeterJa will agree with me. Or were you referring to another word?

Anyway, I think Peter has a point. Maybe it is better to have certain concentrations of prostitution iso a widespread diffusion. In that way it will be easier to monitor.
