I think it must have originated with people having beards (even little) who used to stroke it while considering things... Like some scratch their head when not able to remember.. and other gestures?

I have seen it many times but the "Pointing Finger" was straight like holding a "Gun". Always thought that it has to do with the gesture of "James Bond" holding a gun; but I`m not sure so.
But of course the meaning is: "I`m sooooo coooollllll" !!!!!!!!

Thanks. I agree.
But we're trying to decide where and how it started.
I thought maybe a framing... like a picture frame.

I was told that it's kind of like having a big check mark under your face, but I could be totally wrong.
