Hey, this was the nearest topic i could find to put this question in i wanted to ask which was just some help on best travel...
I have spent ages looking through sites comparing airline prices but on all of them you need to specify dates and i was completely baffled as to why the prices were always so exceptionally different from day to day and even the same flights in the same class but anyway the thing is i have a stupid amount of time on my hands when i can go and i was planning on going over there for two months roughly....I finish college on 23rd of may and don't go back until the 13th of September, all i wanted was the cheapest cheapest economy seat even if if the plane had one engine i would fly on it. What i am getting at is what's the best way of going about this as i am guessing it is more expensive in school holidays so i mean i could overlap this period seen as i have two months in mind. All suggestions hugely appreciated!!! Cheers. |

My 1st trip i went via KLM (Cardiff) & the price was ok...paid about £520 (with tax's)....second time i booked from Ebookers.com & paid about £480 from heathrow....
If i go this year I will surely check out a relitavely unknown method of obtaining the cheapest air tickets possible. I have actually paid a small amount to obtain this information & after reading it, it sounds genuine enough. Any 1 wishing to know this info can contact me via pm/email ![]() |

I was talking about total journey time which includes traveling to the Airport.Norwich to heathrow is at least 3 hours, you have to check in 2 and a half hours before the flight. This is 5 and a half hour already before you have even got on the plane!!!If you then had to make another stop at another Airport you would have to then transfer and probably wait several hours for the connecting flight and if it was a really cheap ticket you would maybe have to stop again. So you see my calculation was not as rediculous as you think. Also it takes 11 hours + from Amsterdam - Bangkok. How did you manage to do it from Cardiff with a transfer and waiting for your connecting flight and also travelling to Cardiff airport and check in time etc?

Which part of my post do you find rediculous, you have quoted the whole post. The type of cheap ticket that I was refering to was the type a friend used to travel to Thailand and was very cheap and took 24 hours to arrive and went via moscow and used Aeroflot. The person asking the question lives 30 min away from me so my advice was to use our local airport which cuts down traveling time by a lot.If you have to spend 3 hours + driving to Heathrow and also arrive 2 hours before the flight leaves for check in then you have extended you traveling by 5 hours. Also I wondered which Airline you used to fly Cardiff- Amsterdam-Bangkok in 11 hours.KLM fly from Amsterdam-Bangkok and they have the shortest flight times from Amsterdam as they are the Dutch national carrier and this flight alone takes 11 hours +

Go into Thomas cook, this is where I usualy book my tickets and to be honest over the last 13-14 years I have found there prices to be the most competitive. They can give you the prices of all the airlines. If you are not bothered where you fly from, then there are plenty of cheap tickets on internet booking sites. However I always fly Norwich-Amsterdam-Bangkok,as I do not have to worry about traveling to the airport or parking.

You might want to try another agent who specialise in West - East travel. 0870 2201001. Let them know you don't mind about how many connections (if thats the case) beacause thats often the best way to get the lowest price.
You should also be awre that the max time you can spend in Thailand officially is 30 days without a visa. Otherwise you will get a fine for each day over (its not a huge amount) or you will need to get over one of the borders and back in again. Also you can go to a Thai immigration office whilst there and ask them to extend your stay and for a small charge and a form to be filled in - they will usually oblige. Peter Thailands Tsunami |

Quote[/b] (mat @ Feb. 14 2005,03:33)]As I live close to Norwich I always fly from Norwich.I have only on 1 occasion flown from another airport and that was Heathrow.I had to leave about 5 hours or so before my flight, whereas a flight from norwich,is only 30 mins away and you can check in 30 mins before the flight.it might be a little more expensive but trust me,I have been to Thailand loads of times and it is so convenient.Thailand is 12 hours away from us and I would not advise a really cheap ticket as you will probably have to change loads of times and take more than 24 hours to get there. I have had what i consider to be relivantly cheap tickets... raning from £400-£550....on two occasions I have had to stop once...Once at Amsterdam & once at Amman Depending on the stop the time obviously varies but travelling from Cardiff > Amsterdam > Bkk the flight took about 11 hours... I will always shop around for the cheapest tickets & if the cost is in my favour I will travel to fly from any alternative destination. I suppose it is down to personal preference & financial capabilities. If I was offered a flight to Bkk for £200 & it would take 24 hours to fly there with several diversions I would take that ticket!!! I would surely be getting sleepy drunk on the plane too lol Possibly, maybe, not sure yet! In June I will be looking for a ticket to Bkk....If I go I will post the departure location, total cost & time details of my flight & then you can see if it is worth shopping about & looking at other departure destinations. Gl with your journeys anyway. Aslong as you get there safe not much else matters hu |

Reading about China Airlines compared to KLM, i want to adjust the Eva-air option. Eva is not as expensive as China Airlines and you'll have the option to travel in the" ïnbetween" class Evergreen-de-luxe, which is almost as comfortable as business-class.If your flight is in low-season and you book Evergreen-de-Luxe, you're gonna have a great flight for competative price.
As I experienced KLM is always the most expensive one, just as LUfthansa. Service aboard at China -Airlines AND Eva is of high quality. Have a nice trip! Kind regards, lonneke |

I always buy my tickets well in advance through Orbitz.com. The fluctuation in prices has to do with probabilities. The airlines want to make sure every flight is booked to capacity. They are willing to sell for a lower price initially, to make sure they book enough seats. The closer the flight is to departure, the more of a premium the airline puts on the remaining seats. It is all about supply and demand.
