Even Rs 5 lakh could not corrupt this auto driver

In Bengaluru, auto drivers are known for rude behaviour and arrogance. But auto driver Panduranga (33) is an exception to the rule, and proving that there are still some honest people in the world.

On January 14, Acharya, a resident of J.P Nagar VIth phase, hired an auto after withdrawing Rs 5 lakhs for his brother’s medical treatment. Being preoccupied with other things, he forgot to take his bag of money from the auto after he reached his destination.
After the auto left, he realized his mistake. Cursing his fate, he filed a complaint at the J.P Nagar police station. He could not believe his luck when the auto driver landed at his door step the next day and handed over the cash.

Panduranga, the auto driver who returned the money said that he didn’t even count how much money was in the bag. His only priority was to return it to its owner. Acharya was the last rider of the day. The next day, when driver Panduranga found the bag in the rear seat of the auto , he assumed that the person who got down at J P Nagar Phase VI must have left it. So, he went to the same house and returned the money to Acharya. After the money was handed over, they both went to the J P Nagar police station to withdraw the complaint.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police issued the auto driver a certificate of appreciation.
