Default 6,000-cr scheme to improve your life
The state government announced Monday a Rs.6,654-cr integrated urban development scheme to improve infrastructure — Rs.5,890 cr would be spent in cities and towns and Rs.763 cr in town panchayats.
In the first phase, Rs.757.28 cr would be spent in cities and towns — `30.5 cr for bettering storm water drains, Rs.58.80 cr for drinking water, Rs.145.11 cr for mending and laying roads, Rs.88.96 cr for rainwater drainage, Rs.124.54 cr for solid water management and Rs.58.57 cr for streetlights.

CM has ordered laying of 2,000-mm-wide pipes between Chembarambakkam lake andPoonamalle bypass at a cost of Rs.41.35 cr to meet Chennai’s drinking water needs.
