this democracy is being misused by these kind of press to write some that tarnish the images of the public servant. This is only done with intention by those who can not tolerate the good governance under this kind financial crunch. People of TN understood all these real problem of the govt and those who could not do anything using these kind of perverted press to attack them personally. I am sure these kind of wrong propaganda will catch any attention of the people of Tamil Nadu anymore.

This democracy is also the same thing that allowed bad governance and brought about the financial crunch. The press is always a biased tool in the hands of undemocratic elements of a society that uses its loud mouth to defame people. I am sure you also read news of how a news paper office was attacked a few years ago in Madurai. Rajpriya |

The Madras high court on Wednesday cautioned Nakkheeran magazine editor R. Gopal for publishing a scurrilous article about chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, saying “he must draw a line”, even as it reserved orders for Thursday on the anticipatory bail plea filed by him fearing arrest.
“We may not be concerned with the aggrieved person but this is not the way (to express). He must draw a line,” the first bench of Justice M.Y. Eqbal and Justice T.S. Sivagnanam said. Earlier, opposing the bail, public prosecutor I. Subramanian said the magazine had published 21 articles continuously and when this was brought to the notice of the court, a division bench had said that anything personal about the chief minister should not be published and that the magazine should give her 36 hours to give her version. Despite this order, the magazine published an article that was “absolutely scurrilous”, he contended, adding that the bail plea should be rejected, taking into account the past behaviour of Gopal. N.R. Elango, counsel for Gopal, submitted that he did not justify the article and said he would advise his client about his future conduct. In another case about the disconnection of power and water supply to Nakkheeran office, the advocate general informed the court that the state government did not indulge in vendetta against the petitioner (Gopal) by resorting to the disconnection. Power supply has already been restored and the authorities had not disconnected the water supply, he said. -dc chn |
