Its a real challenge driving ones cars through the bi-lanes in Chennai these days. Couple of days rain and the so called Roads, went missing. I surely dont think that these were the best Rains that Chennai has seen in recent years but I surely would say that the Rains have left its mark on the roads we use. But I dont feel that anyone cares about it. In recent times we even had a few deaths due to bad Road Maintainence, but dont hear too much of protests or questioning on it. There should be some serious Action taken on those contractors who have put through a poor execution of work to our society.

From what i read recently, they have decided to re-lay some of the major roads and have estimated the total budget at Rs.10 crore per road. So it is waiting for approval

the standard reply now is, the last government didnt do anything.

But then since AIADMK has won the mayor seat in chennai after a long time, they will, for once, do something good. or atleast thats what i am hoping they will do

That should be fine if you get away with just servicing the car twice. But if driving over the potholes damages the shock absorbers of your car, then the car could start making all kinds of rattling noises.

New Governments always blame the past Govt. for all the present problems. The general public watches patiently until all their hair grows completely grey hoping at least their children will one day have better roads.

The last made money in a different way and the present will make money on selling booze all over the country. Life may never be the same again in Tamil Nadu.

I am in full agreement with you, with the current scenario we can never expect change in this state. Dont you think its sad that the person sitting on those seats was chosen by you and me and we gave them powers to make an ass of you and me. Its time that we take this and similiar forums to be noticed by the mass and the the officials involved. The Roads is just one among them. There are so many issues and shortfalls that need to be addressed to make our homes a better place.

I cannot guess how many marriages and homes will be broken with booze culture being extended. Europeans drink because they have cold climates. Even though I live in Germany for a long time I don't smoke and don't drink even beer. If one loves his family there are lots of different ways to keep one's self warm in a cold country.

Unfortunately I am one without any voting rights in India. Even if I did have I would belong to a minority who would have never voted such policies for ruination of a proud culture.

People in India are as a whole between the Devil and the Deep blue Sea. When you don't have a choice?

There is a difference between Relishing a drink and gulping. I agree that Marriages are broken on account of drinking habits. Like you, I dont understand what one gets by over drinking. Some do to show off to the people around them that they can drink their way with bottles and still stand strong, So do for the sake of doing. over a period of time, it stands uncontrollable. What a nasty thing to do...
