Having an Indian Passport may not be sufficient proof of Identity. It may be easier to get an Indian Passport engaging a tout even if there is no sufficient proof. Around the year 2000 this was exactly the same story in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

People travelled from distant places from all parts of the Island the previous day and formed queues around
4 am in front of the Immigration the next day.

When the Passport issuing office opened for business, the touts approached the people in the queue and made deals to get new passports through the backdoor.

It’s all entirely different today. Any one holding an application form duly filled for a new, renewal or an extension of a passport can enter the office now located in different place in the same city with out any red tape. A few hours after submitting the application one could collect the passport without any hindrance.

With all the newspaper headlines reporting new corruption everyday It seems as though corruption has come to stay permanently as a way of life India.

There are so many cases like this govt. employees misusing their powers for earning extra money. If we all come together & stop bribing them then they will have to work. but some of people thinks "kaam jaldi ho raha hai na to dene main kya jaata hai." that thinking give employees courage to do so.

Hey you are keeping me very busy buddy. By the way the only Hindi I know is "Thum ne mujko prem sikhaya" now tell what the hell does that mean? Every one laughs when I say this when I am in India.

How do I say how senior I am without knowing how old you are? Though I am not Victoria Anderson, my age is a thing I reveal only when I apply for my passport. I have a childish heart and brain. I never grew up.
