Default Run for your Life - MTC Buses can take it away
Dear Friends,

Watch out Chennaiites for those killer buses. MTC buses kill 143 Chennaiites every year. Medically unfit Drivers and Technically unfit Vehicles could make it even worse.

“Driving through congested areas, is said to create huge pressure on drivers, sources claim that most of them are not medically fit. MTC drivers on the other hand blame poor maintenance of buses by the corporation for the rise in accidents”.

MTC buses kill 143 Chennaiites every year. Medically unfit Drivers and Technically unfit Vehicles could make it even worse. Blaming the MTC drivers is only part of the story. The news correspondent who wrote that piece had not done his(her?) homework. All (s)he has to do is to watch the way school- and college-going students ride these buses everyday. Sometimes these students are all standing on the foot-board, making the bus lean dangerously to one side, scaring observers about when the next serious accident is going to happen. The conductors and drivers are totally helpless - but where does the blame lie? Hope Christin Mathew Philip who wrote that Times of India piece read this Chennai Forum posting and go back to rehash his(her) article.

Incidentally, if each Forum member who views this posting would only take the trouble of submitting a quick reply with the word 'Amen', I think the MTC authorities may wake up from their slumber.

===================

Hi Ramani Sir,

I only tend to believe that journalists see things in the right perspective to write the news. I am so far away to see realities. I think everything that's wrong needs collective agreement to be corrected.
As you say if forums members get together you could have some impact on changing situations.
