Default Mass cleanup programme begins in city
Days after the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced a massive cleanup drive at the Assembly, the Corporation on Wednesday kick started a mega drive to clear the stagnant waste within the city limits.
As per a release, the top brass of the Local Administration Ministry and the civic body are now working on different modules under which the project can be executed in a phased manner. The project is planned to be executed in three months. Three spots in every zone and 30 residential areas will be focussed on everyday.

Contact the helpline 1913.to register grievances.

Yes, this is a good initiative raising some hopes for a cleaner Chennai. As indicated in Papers this morning, only 10 zones are covered for this clean-up activity over a period of 3 months. Although this is a welcome initiative, the other zones still need to wait for their turn. But another alternative for Chennai residents is moving to outer Chennai that too has more of plus points than minus points. The details for the same can be found in my blog living-in-outer-chennai.blogspot.com.
