About 100 cusecs of Krishna water released from Kandaleru reservoir reached the zero point (TN border) early Thursday afternoon.
Local administration minister K. P. Munusamy along with officials of PWD and Chennai Metro Water went to the zero point and inspected the canal that goes up to Poondi reservoir from the inter-state border. The Andhra Pradesh government released 1,000 cusecs from Kandaleru on Tuesday. Subsequently, the outflow was increased to 1,500 cusecs on Wednesday. According to senior PWD officials, TN would receive a defined quantum of 3tmcft in the next few months. Given the current storage of 5.4tmcft in the city reservoirs and inflow of Krishna water, the city would get uninterrupted supply of water till the end of the year. DC |
