Hi there, As for the Kendogi., Its single layered, and I figured it would be better for me since I sweat a lot. At the same time, I know there's these new double layered ones with the sweat wicking layer, but they were a little too expensive for me. I saw the one I bought online somewhere, but I cant find the link. It might actually be bogu-bag.com but its closed for construction right now. What i can say is that the bottom looks different from the top. its has small diamonds and it light blue on the inside. Maybe it is double layered? Doh! The sizing is perfect too I believe. I bought my stuff here www.cktsports.com. The online selection doesn't accurately represent their selection in store. I haven't bought my shinai yet, but I think I will be buying that online. either from cktsports.com, e-bogu.com, budo-bag.com or budo-aoi.com. I actually found this awesome korean website with great prices on the same merchandise from these other websites. but since the shipping is so expensive it does ended up costing as much if not more....what a shame. Alright, thanks again for the tips and suggestions. I do appreciate it. Alright, later |

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Shiro7 - Well, the plan right now is to start Kendo when I go back to university in September. I wanted to start this summer, but I was in an accident at work, and I'm still not able to walk properly. I'm hoping by September, I'll be good enough to start classes. I searched for a Dojo using the dojo forum, and the CKF webpage. It seems like the only CKF dojo in Waterloo (where I'm going to school) is the UofW Kendo Club. I go to WLU, but hopefully I can still attend the kendo club. Otherwise, my hopes will be dashed... ![]() I'm really excited, and I bought my kendogi and Hakama already. I'm so tempted to buy the bogu, but after reading the forum, it looks like I wont be needing it until next year. Alright, Later |

Awesome! I'm content with that. I just bought it now while I'm still in Toronto, since there aren't any stores in Waterloo; that I have been able to find. On top of that, it would be killer on gas if I had to drive from Waterloo to Toronto to pick up a uniform, with the price of gas being at over $1/litre now! Time to buy a diesel... or a hybrid. Welcome to the forum. To be honest, you ought to have waited before buying the uniform. You may have gotten the wrong kind. There are Iaido uniforms and Kendo uniforms. It is better to ask sensei what you may wear, as well. Some dojo have specific requirements for beginners. What did you pick up? And, the length of the hakama is important. Also, you want to make sure you got the correct size keiko-gi. Oh, and most of us usually get our stuff online. Try bogubag.com or e-bogu.com when sensei tells you what size shinai to use, to get your shinai and bokuto. Do not buy a shinai at a karate store.(At least, that is what I was told by my sensei. There's a good reason for that.) There are other good online reputable stores as well. Just do a search here. ![]() Good luck in Kendo! Kaoru |
