the point of it was that she was like an american tourist... and couldnt do anything other than kill people which comes up at the end of vol 2
Not really...she was trying to speak it to Hanzo. And of course that stupid lucy liu's japanese was pants as well.

As for the blood gushing thingy...well...I dunno about the huge spraying but a spurt from a cut large artery can go quite a long way.

I was watching Kill Bill today and I was wondering if it really is possible for someone to spray that much blood everywhere if they get decapitated or stabbed in their stomach... there is one part when a womans arm gets cut off and for about a minute it looks like a fountain
That scene where Lucy Liu's assistant loses an arm is a direct cop from Kinji Fukusaku's classic Yakuza pic "Jingi Naki Tatakai" (now available in its five volume entirety on Home Vision Entertainment, as "The Yakuza Papers"--the transfer looks great!). Maybe "cop" is too strong a word, since Tarantino did dedicate the film to the late Fukusaku. That would make it homage, ne.

Generally speaking, arterial spray scenes like that are a convention of Japanese action-oriented cinema. Think of the last scene in Kurosawa's Sanjuro which preceded the golden age of grindhouse by a generation and a half. My problem with Kill Bill, at least the first movie, is that it's packed to the gills with visual and audio quotes from Japanese films like Joshu 701: go Sasori (Femal Convict 701, Scorpion) and Lady Snowblood. People who haven't seen these films won't appreciate the director's fan boy collage, and the few enlightened trogolodytes who have will just roll their eyes and say "Oh, that's soooo blatant." So, who was Quentin trying to appeal to anyway?

One possibility is that he made it as a monument to his own love of Japanese exploitation cinema. Can anyone think of an appropriately scurrillous synonym for "self gratifying"?

I can explain it properly so if anyone who has seen it can help me out.

Thanks
Why did you post this? You know it's all fake and Quentin was trying to mimic the over-done spraying seen in comics and kung-fu movies.

Yah, I was wondering how she was in the plane with a katana and writing a list that said "DEATH LIST 5" without being tackled. She walks around with it EVERYwhere.

I loved the Buck part. SOOOOO funny. Karma

Well correct me if Im wrong, but there are 5 pints of blood in a body (average) when Tanaka (the mafia dude) got his head chopped off, for about a minute and a half, blood was sprayying EVERYWHERE, like a firehose or something, but out of his neck as apposed to a fire hydrant. And blood as apposed to water.
The blood will spurt in bursts...just like your heartbeat. It won't go fire hydrant armegeddon spraying in one ongoing geyser.

thats just a director's view of the thing.

don't worry, you won't empty at that rate if you get mutilated.

don't forget to get first aid kit in case you try out.

I thought that the execution of the movie left a bit to be desired but the concept behind it was good.

Who else has merged all the different types of fighting movie genres together in one movie? Hong-Kong Wire-Fu, Bruce Lee style fightfest (the scene where she faces heaps of the Crazy 88, ala Fist of Fury), Samurai, Spaghetti Western... All in the one movie.

Could Lucy Lu's character not find fittings for he sword in Japan??? I mean the shirasaya looks k3w1 but unless it is in ttorafe or needs to look like a bokken.... whats the point?? And as for the Yakaza.... why swords??? It would be soooooo easeir to just shoot her! Really, even if hie cut the bullet in 1/2 then shi would have 2 bullets comming at her. And as for her killing the mother.... what a evil b***!

PS - Girls look sooo cute in Kimono (=^o^=) 可愛い!!!!
Dude... it's a fiction parody stuff.
Don't expect it to be real.

Or I guess u can take any commercial airplane from the US and board it with an unwrapped katana in your hands, as well as many other passengers in the same flight do.

Yeeeeah, rrrright!! Specially these days in the US when a nail-cutter can be such a deadly weapon that it would shoot down a Boeing 777 and thus you get busted if trying to board a flight with one on you. My my...

Guess u're talking about Yakuza there.

BUT!, I agree... pretty girls look awesome in kimono

i thought the movie was absolutely terrible although, i had to laugh when she slashed those guys ankles and the blood squirted with so much pressure that they took off like a rocket and flipped on the ground.

none the less, terrible movie...

KILL BILL 1 and 2 was the biggest piece of gobshite that Taratino has produced so far. The only two good films he made was Pulp Fiction and Resevior Dogs.

I mean come on...multi million dollar budget and they can't even get Uma Thurman a speech coach for a her japanese lines...

They should have gone with Milla Jovovich...she can kick arse for real.

The blood vessels in your fingers are veins and they are the blood vessels returning to your heart, therefore the pressure will not be as strong as an artery which are the blood vessels carrying fresh blood from your heart which will in turn have more pressure. You will most likely die if you cut an artery, which is why most people slit their wrists when attempting suicide. If you actually cut an artery, the blood will spurt out like a pulsing fountain.
?
Like in any other part of the body there are veins as well arteries in your fingers otherwise how would the blood be carried there?
It is true that the pressure is higher in arteries than in veins but cutting a vein can be as deadly as cutting an artery depending on the size of the vessel and type of the wound. During suicide attempts people cut the veins of their wrists.
The way the blood goes out of a wound depends on the pressure inside the vessel but also of the size of the wound. Therefore the opening ,in the vessel, for the blood to spurt out needs to be small and the pressure has to be strong.

PS:I like this movie very much!!

杀死比尔!!不过里面留给我印象最深的并不是“剑道”,而那一身黄色的李小龙的衣服。呵呵…… ^-^
