You know, if you flood the seller with enough complaints, they'll maybe get the message that they shouldn't be using pictures like that, and if you complain enough to eBay, maybe they'll gently nudge the seller in the right direction. If we just ignore it, it will not go away, it will just get worse.
I can't wait to see more of them.

Not that it will do any good, but I sent a complaint to eBay about it. I reminded them that kendo is from an entirely different culture than Western Europe or the New World, and that we should not be disrespectful of that culture. The use of the woman in this picture is clearly disrespectful to kendo, to the shinai and the katana it represents, and to Japanese culture.

What possible connection is there between the shinai and this woman in the picture, other than it's obvious that she's of Asian descent? Shame on the seller, not eBay, but maybe they'll act on it.

I kind of see where you're coming from... but then again, there was a kendo/swimsuit crossover shoot in one of Japan's biggest selling weekly magazines (and not some weird porno one, I think it was Young Magazine) last year, featuring the delightful Ichikawa Yui. I've seen similar kinds of things where a girl's wearing boxing gloves or something, and it doesn't make me think any worse of boxing. Like I say, I see where you're coming from, but if they happily do it in Japan, then I don't really see a problem (except for the unattractiveness of the girl).

??? How come no one sends Quentin Tarantino complains about swords and women? More to disrepectfulness, I reckon you guys have more problem with the featured product model than anything else. It's just that different people have different preferences. There must be similar Japanese H stuff that you don't really want to see, so don't complain on the milder ones.

i have been practising sunburi on my own as well for the reason that i canot find a dojo in my district and it is out of my reach.. so i rely heavily on books to study and have come to grasp the true meaning of swordsmanship and have come to respect its ideas and ways completely.
PM Kaoru, she will help you find a dojo. Or you could email for example, the swordfest guys. They will also give you info on non-auskf-dojo but if they are not with the AUSKF discuss it on e-budo's fourms. Thats what I did.

Ok, that's just one step too far. I mean, it's not like we're at a car or boat show where guys come more for ogling the models rather than the machines. Seriously, is there nothing sacred in martial arts anymore?!?!?

I agree with you! That was disgusting and completely disrespectful. I think you covered it all, so there's no need for me to repeat what you just said. I'm glad you spoke up.

Oh, Mugu-san, how'd you come across that?
