Akira is classic but the manga is much better ...!!
I'll second this. I remember waiting somewhat impatiently for each new volume to come out in the very early 90s. The anime was somewhat of a disappointment after the manga.

has anyone ever seen 'otaku no video'?
it's two movies (1982 and 1985) about how a normal boy (man) is introduced to the otaku 'world'. And he then decides to become the 'otaking'.
it's kinda weird but also quite funny.

Maybe I've been watching too much of those weird anime's.

- Princess Mononoke (Mononoke-hime)
- Valley of the Wind (Kaze no tani no Naushika)

and from others the following :

- serial experiment : lain (my personal favorite, i think)

Vampire Hunter D is sweet. Demon City Shinjuku is pretty cool, too. Dude kills demons with shiny , magical bokken. Awesome.

Default Favorite Anime flick
I don't know much about anime, but i'd like to get my hands on some good stuff. I saw Ninja Scroll not too long ago and thought that was some great sword action. Anyone know of any other great flicks? I'd like to know some popular titles, because I'd have to rent them.

I love ride on shooting star...

and kenshin....it's not a bad anime, but I only REALLY liked the Tsuioku hen OVA.
Yeah. Tsuiokuhen (or Trust & Betrayal as it was called in the US) is the part of Rurouni Kenshin that really makes sense and it's worth viewing several times.

I just finished viewing PeaceMaker Kurogane. In my opinion, only the last 3 episodes are worth at all. They're about the Ikedaya Incident. It's good, the action is nice, and only minor historical events were changed. The rest of the series is mostly comical and circumstantial stuff bringing to those 3 final episodes.

Later!

I love the music from FLCL. I have the soundtrack. The anime was very strange but entertaining and I liked it.

is it this : http://www.gainax.co.jp/flcl/index-e.html ?
Yes, that's it. Also known as Furi Kuri, or Fooly Cooly. I don't like a lot of anime, but I love this one.
