Anyone seen Howle's Moving Castle yet? Miyazaki's latest... but actually not the most brilliant... Only at Kiki Express Delivery's level, IMHO.

Akira is classic but the manga is much better ...!!

Oshii Mamoru made a 30-min sword action "movie" called Blood the Last Vampire. Was pretty good. The one he made after, Jin-roh, is ok but a bit too boring for me...

My all time fav. anime movies are Nausicca and Ghost in the Shell (haven't got the new follow-up "Innocence" yet...) TV anime has to be Evangelion. A few good hours normally got wasted just to go marathon re-watching everything again

No one mentioned Doraemon?!?

Most Studio Ghibli Films are must sees (Howl's moving castle, Spirited Away, Nausicaa, Mononoke Hime...) but if you want some sword action, i reccomend you try some animes from the samurai genre: Samurai x, Samurai deeper Kyo, Samurai 7, Samurai Champloo...ect... Naruto and Full Metal Alchemist are good titles too.

I have to thank Gatsu-San for recommending Naruto and Bleach!... both of which are excellent.

Other than these, I would resommend Spirited Away and Akira...

cheers

my personal favourites are;
- cowboy bebop

- samurai champloo

princess mononoke is the best anime movie i've seen so far.
I've seen akira but didn't like it that much. not my style I think.

For a most insane but hillarious anime experience, try Excel Saga.

One of my favorites.

Aww, can't believe no one has mentioned Hajime no Ippo. The anime's quite old but it's pretty good. It's a boxing anime, about a boy and his struggle to become stronger every match. The down time between matches is where the comic relief sets in and it's hilarious.

I love the music from FLCL. I have the soundtrack. The anime was very strange but entertaining and I liked it.

R.O.D the tv or Read or Die is a good anime. Its about these people who can manipulate paper into whatever they want. They use paper as weapons. Its pretty cool. Yeah it sounds weird, but its actually very interesting.

I don't know much about anime, but i'd like to get my hands on some good stuff. I saw Ninja Scroll not too long ago and thought that was some great sword action. Anyone know of any other great flicks? I'd like to know some popular titles, because I'd have to rent them.
The FLCL series is seriously screwed up, great artwork, great music, all-around very good.

Hank.

YES! FLCL is a must see, my personal fav.
Also, you should get your hands on Gensoumaden Saiyuki. (check my signature, that's them.)
