BTW, trying to figure out how to put on the Obi gives me headaches, especially trying to learn how to tie them with pictures, lol Still, I often wear Yakata in the house cuz it's soooooo comfy. Sadly my mum won't let me outside w/ it and my evil neibors think that I will kill them in their sleep. But to be honest they are evil so when I get a iaito/shinken I'll practice somewhere in view to add to their false impression. PS - I just got my aunt in texas into kendo. I am soon going to send her info on the Budokan. (=^o^=) |

I don't want it to become mainstream fashion just like songs got overplayed by the radio. Though, wearing it every now and then might have some laughs http://www.kendo-world.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7071 Viva la revolution del hakama. Power to the Obi I have a dream that one day this world will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women in kimono are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together (in hakama) at a table of in a teahouse. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be filled with cool citzens in coton or silk yukata. I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their haori but by the fabric it is made of. I have a dream today. |

I don't wear anything like that outside for special occasions, but I do wear yukata at home in the house sometimes. When I was a teen, I always wore yukata/nemaki at home. But as an adult I find the sleeves too annoying (because of cooking dinner, washing dishes, etc), so I tend not to wear them much anymore.
