Has anyone thought about what Kengo would be like if you simply took a piece of paper and taped it over the HP gauge during game play?

It's like saying: my new Porsche really ruined my driving experience because it has an RPM gauge which my old Toyota didn't use to have...
You missed my point. Anyway Kenshi_Job made it clearer, it's the major difference between BB and its heir Kengo as far as gameplay's concerned.

Ah OK , I don't think many people that are used to Mortal combat, Teken and other beat um up games would get it. Whys there only one attack button? .

Well, that won't help. Even we can't see the gauge, they still don't died in one blow of normal attack, which is a shomen cut to gedan position!!!

I mentioned Kengo in the thread about Bushido Blade 2 as the heir of the latter on the PS2, played it but was disapointed for the fact that the dev team didn't stick with the no HP gauge concept which made BB relatively realistic, anyway is there an HP gauge in Kengo 2?

just a question, anyone tried or ever seen haia suburi being done on kengo?
its not a special attack, its just a short quick men from jodan and back to jodan and repeated.. killed my friend from full health with 20 or 30 of these

I had Kengo 2 on PS2 as well. I think I forgave alot of its bad points because I'm a fan of the genre. I also liked the way you could customise your style. Overall the gameplay was pretty bad though. It just felt like hard work instead of fun progressing in the game. Kengo 3 looks pretty good, but I'll have to get my PS2 chipped and get the import version I guess. I don't think it will be released for a UK or US market.

Way of the Samurai 1 and 2 were alright as well. There's a new one in this series called Western Samurai, but it looks pretty bad.

It's like saying: my new Porsche really ruined my driving experience because it has an RPM gauge which my old Toyota didn't use to have... Or you could go to options and turn it off . I found out you can turn all the virtual info off in the options.
I used to play Mortal combat on the Amega and that was my favoret game. This one is really strange though, Its not a beat um up because you can kill the person in one blow. I don't like how you can just keep hitting the person while he is blocking and win the fight though.

D'Artagnan I'm sure I saw the English version of kengo called kengo in England. I might be thinking of some thing else but I remember it was one of the first games for the PS2 at the time... (I also worked out your name after about 5 monthes here nether thought it was one of the Three musketeers I've been thinking it was artagan or some thing )

I saw samurai 2 and western samurai too 'Samurai do' in Japan. Samurai 2 looks good but I already have a roll playing game Metal gear solid 3.. Any way

The UK PAL version of Kengo 1 in called 'Kengo'

but, the UK PAL version of Kengo 2 is called 'Sword of the Samurai'

dunno why, I don't think Kengo1 sold all that well, so they probably tried to market it as a whole new game.

Default Kengo 1/2/3
When I came to Japan I thought I wanted a play-station 2. I've never had any thing like that since my spectrum when I was about 10 .

I got Kengo 2 JP version yesterday and saw kengo 3 for a bit more money. I wanted kengo in England but I only had a PC and there wasn't a version for that .

Kengo 3 is set in the time of Musashi and after choosing your charicter you have to up his skill by practicing and beating people in fights.

http://www.saruyama-gamesoft.com/ps2.parts/kengou2.jpg

You start on your own and fence a guy. If you loose as I did he will ask you to join his school. There you can learn all sorts of moves. I wanted a game where you did realistic moves and this game does't seem too stupid apart from some bad graphics.
Think I'm going to wet my self when I meet Musashi though .

Any one played this game?

Yes, there is a hp gauge in Kendo 2, or as it is known in the west 'Sword of the Samurai'

It's still a quality game though, i've had it for ove a year and i still play it now and then
