there is a website with his unmasking and its definately does not look like good ol' John

I still think its Mike, here is a quote from an interview, its something I could imagine him saying:

“A long time ago I was studying with a Japanese gentleman who taught me about medication, a form of deep self-hypnosis. In this trance state - as I interpret it - I contacted the spirit of a samurai warrior who, 300 years ago, lived in the place that is now called Nagasaki.”

“There are two sides to me - two sides to everybody. But this is my way of releasing one of them. I wear the mask because when I’m like that I don’t want people to see what I look like. Do I enjoy being the villain in the ring ?”

I doubt John could ever come up with something like this no matter how drunk he gets

Peter Thorley not Riley (my mistake).
John remembers him as a 'bloody big bugger' and says his judo was very good.

As a wrestler i saw him many times at the Victorai Hall in Hanley.

Perhaps he was a 'good' wrestler but he did bugger all Kendo.

His real name as i recall is Peter Riley (so I was told by my old Judo/kendo teacher John Shaw). As far as he recalls 'Nagasaki' had 1 kendo lesson with Kenshiro Abbe and he broke Abbe's sensei's shinai. That was that.
John sadly died last year but John Lovatt is still about so I will ask him at the weekend.
