Try using spybot....its free, and it works pretty well.
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Searc...ml?tag=lst-0-1 I got it maybe a month or so ago....when I was having a similar virus problem. It got all of the viruses that I found, but wasn't able to get rid of with norton....and about 20 more that hadn't been picked up with the other scans. |

I'm suspecting the Norton Antispyware edition may have locked the file so that their own tool and spybot couldn't find it in the system32 folder.
I'm going to try uninstalling the Norton Antispyware edition tonight, then running those tools again. It doesn't make sense that neither Norton's own Trojan removal tool and spybot couldn't find the virus in the system32 folder, when the virus scanner picks it up. Thanks! |

What are the symptoms of this virus? Cuz last night I just got one myself, it was so smart it blocked all the anti-virus company websites. Also, when you try to use task manager or command prompt, it totally disable it. It also won't allow me to install any anti-virus softwares to scan it. And you all think I got this virus myself since most think girls do stupid things on their computers, well it was my stupid boyfriend. And luckily, doing a system restoration a day before completely solved my problem.
He got the virus was from a file sharing software called "Limewire Pro"; so just a headsup for you guys. |

This should do you well: http://securityresponse.symantec.com...oval.tool.html
I had this virus a few months ago. I also had what apparantly was a rare variant of it and this tool didn't work for me, however, it's worked for a lot of people. If this doesn't work for you I can give you the method that I used to disable it, which is a little complicated, but not brain surgery. You see what happens is instead of the virus running it's own process, it hooks itself into explorer.exe, so you cant just end it and delete it. Even if you do manage to delete the dll, it's still rooted in your registry and system restore, and it will come back to haunt you quite quickly... |
