Somehow I thought the first logo is too feminin. Trying to tell too much. Second one doesn't mean anything about SC except it only represent Kendo. I don't like either of them. sorry, I may be picky... I got a question though why is there a "S"CKF and "N"CKF instead of just one federation for the whole state? |

Logo No. 2 seems to be very similar to this one:
http://www.kendoka-kassel.de/start.php The logo is on the right hand side. I like the dynamics of it and I prefer a logo that is simple on not overloaded with information. Cheers, dotnet |

The Southern California Kendo Federation is contemplating a logo change (the vote has apparently been deferred again). Post up your choice after checking out the ones under consideration here. |

The design was made by one of the SCKF womens team members. Though it is a nice design to me, I really like a logo that truly represents what SCKF is all about. The poppy, the (city hall?) tower, etc are some of the things that seem to really tell people what represents So cal the best. Just like you'd find the GG bridge, the koit tower, the napa vineyards, the transamerica tower, silicon valley, etc for norcal.

If my opinion counts, here'll be my suggestions...
A. If the futuristic one is used, can it just be the text alone with that font, but without the men-gane graphic. The way it is right now doesn't fit too well... B. Either that, or pick one of the elements from the previous version, and make it into a kamon/logo thing or something. The poppy or the stars will do quite well, if you manage to pick good colors that shows better on other kendo items (like keikogi...) Personally I like that pie with a mis-aligned poppy print. Looks very Andy Warhol. |

I've done some additional research and based on what I've been able to find out the "traditional" design was executed by Murasako-sensei (see instructors tab for a brief biography), one of the founders of what became the SCKF, when he lived in Southern California. A nice interview of Murasako-sensei is to be found in The Warriors Path: Wisdom from Contemporary Martial Arts Masters. I highly recommend the book.
