So I've spoken to some of my neighbors about the situation. They seem to think that this happens at the beginning of every fall season because the bugs are getting a little desparate for food and are seeking it and shelter before the cold weather comes. So it seems like the other people are going through the same thing.
As for if all Japan is like this with bugs, don't let it discourage you from trying to live here. There are so many bug traps and sprays that you can put up a good defense. Many apartments are in cement city with no plants or nothing nearby so there won't be many bugs because they have no where to really live. Granted you will still see cockroaches, but that is usually a function of cleanliness. I think the woods behind my house are a big factor in my place being worse than other places. My last apartment here had no bugs ever. So don't let it deter you from coming. As for bug defenses, we don't have a bug squishing stick. We've taken an 800 page book and wrapped it in ceran wrap. This way we have a nice mobile, thrown bug squisher to catch them by surprise. Has a nice weight to it so nothing will survive. ![]() |
