This is the serious post so i'll post seriously here.

Kendo is a good thing to learn in terms of discipline, exercise, and perhaps spirituality. It is relatively strict compared to other sports such as baseball, football, soccer, etc. Compared to other martial arts, I think it is more traditional by far. A lot of martial arts nowadays are very "trendy" since that is what is eye candy to a lot of ppl. I like kendo because it keeps it's roots.

As far as starting out. Listening to your sempai (seniors/upperclassmen) and sensei are key as a green beginner. They will show you the ropes and how to follow the path.

That is all,

Tim

Default advice for Beginners
hi I am curious about the sport kendo and I am wondering what it entails, from the information on the internet this seems like a rather strict and displined sport I was wondering what advice would you give to some one who has not participated in the sport but is interested to join??(I feel I that the information on the net hasnt given me enough info to be honest ^^)

Our dojo allows you to watch or participate in several classes before you need to join or buy anything. Most dojos are similar. There should be someone there with equipment for you to borrow. (that's my unofficial job: bring extra shinai) But all you need to do at first is show up.
