Dumbest thing I've ever done before Kendo was not even my idea. The day before a Taikai the president of the Mexican Federation decided we were going to run 3 miles (5km) before the training session which is designed to tire out the top rung competitors and level the ground somewhat. I arrived at the training locatioon at 9:00 AM, left it at 8:00 PM. Stopped feeling my legs at about 2 miles into the run. Loafers are not great for running.

I did one reallllly stupid thing. It was during the summer when i had no school and no job, so i would allways stay up late. So i stayed up all day on friday all the way to saturday mornining and went to practice withought out any energy. There was only 3 other ppl in the class, so i got to practice with my sensei for a good half and hour them with my sempai for another half and hour, with a lot of nonstop attack keiko. I dont think i died that day, I KNOW i died that day. Slept for like 24 hours the next day. That is death.

Drinking milk instead of water before practice. Really bad idea. My face changed to a scaring green color in jigeiko and i was told to stop, sit down, take the men off and drink some water. That was the closest i ever got to throwing up in my men.
Apart from that forgetting to eat or, worse, forgetting to drink enough on kendo days were bad experiences. |
