Default Totally Random Car Buying Thread
I miss driving... I love the trains here, but sometimes it would just be nice to step out the door and hop in a car and drive somewhere. Because of this, I occassionally look at various car sites to window shop. So here are two scenarios to discuss:

1. You are on a tight budget and are shopping for a new car, but nothing that will kill you financially so something like a $15,000 car. You can go a little higher, but lower is better. What do you look for, currently drive, or like as a car if it is in this range, or hear is nice for this price range...

2. You are not on a tight budget, but we all can't obviously go and buy a Ferari or whatever dream car you can think of. So what car would you like to buy and drive, given that it is at least slightly within your financial ability to get, and why? To be more clear, what cars do you all like that are within the spending ability of a normal human being and not some financial freak like Bill Gates or Trump?

I heard mazda's cars are quite affordable. i know they has a bad reputation in the past but they've got some good reviews now.

another car you can look at is the toyota yaris? formerly echo. i'm thinking it's cheaper than mazda but the car looks kinda small though. you can always trust toyota. the resell value doesn't go done as fast as the american counterparts.

The new Civic from Honda maybe? Though the SI will set you back at least $20K here in the U.S. of A. As will the Grand Touring version of the Mazda 3 which is a big seller.

If I could afford 2, (one as back-up while the other was in the shop) I'd buy a Mini.

I just got a 2002 1.5L WD Honda Fit (used) for Y1000000.
My first car.I love it. Not too big, not too small.
I can fit (n.p.i.) two sets of bogu+shinai no problem.
And I'm peeling off my Shoshinsha marks tomorrow!

Well, for number 1 I'd buy a small car that is fuel saving and stuff. So probably the Smart, either the fortwo although I'm worried the bogu won't fit so maybe the forfour.

For Number 2 I'd buy an Infinity Q45.

Mitsubishi is in financial trouble. I'd avoid any car company who might not be around before the warranty expires.

But, I do love the Eclipse Spyder...

I personally got my Honda Civic SI..2002 for a good price. around 14,000 out the door, nothing down. Low monthly payments and Honda to me has always been a good, low maintenance and good gas mileage car.

1) I would choose a Datsun or Mazda pickup. I don't think you can find them new anymore but the price used is anywhere from $3,000 to $6000 (US). The trucks are well-built trucks so a warranty doesn't have as much value as having a warranty for a Fiat might.

2) The submarine Lotus espirit from James Bond. It can go anywhere, it has various weapons and it would be the ultimate car for beating rush hour traffic.

Seriously, I'd probably just get a Nissan 350Z
