Usually in the Spring the SEUSKF has a seminiar with testing up to 3Dan at Maeda-Sensei's dojo. I don't think they've verified the date yet. There's always the option of testing outside the SEUSKF since there's the Detroit and Cleveland tournaments coming up that will have testing. Other than that, the only SEUSKF tournaments that I know of will only have testing for Kyu rankings. I could be wrong though and if so, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Check www.gulfcoastkendo.com for information about the Florida tournament. They are planning to have testing for up to yondan.

Pete, as Ignatz said the next dan testing as far as I know is the Florida tournament next month. The next opportunity would be at TMG (Maeda sensei's dojo in Tenn.) and that is typically in April or May. After that the next one would likely be at the Citadel sometime over the summer and after that the SEUSKF tournament either in late summer or early fall (usually). As Miyu suggests you can get permission from Yoshida sensei to test outside of the SEUSKF if you wish as well.

Sorry you couldn't make it Mike, it was a good practice. I don't have classes on Wednesday night this semester, so I'll be seeing you guys at that practice this time around (which better start soon).

bullet08,
I just got information about a seminar being held at the Citadel in Charleston, SC on March 11-12th. Apparently there will be testing up to 3Dan. The instructors are Mr. Masaharu Kakehashi, Hanshi 8dan and Dr. Nobuyuki Miyasaka, Kyoshi 7dan. I have a copy of the registration form if you want, just PM me and I'll email it to you.

checked with people at charleston, there will not be a promotion test at this event. however, kakehashi sensei comes with very high praise regarding his kendo style, and our dojo members are being encouraged to attn. this seminar if at all possible.

I'll have to check on whether there will be a testing at Maeda-sensei's place this spring... I seem to recall (but I could be wrong) reading in the recent SEUSKF newsletter that it was being cancelled because of the big hoo-hah down in Orlando...

but again, don't quote me on that..

Sucks that they won't have a promotional, but the seminar should be awesome nonetheless.

I hope they keep the promotional at Maeda-Sensei's place. It would make sense especially since all the high-ranking senseis in the SEUSKF typically attend.

not to mention that it's a pretty central location for the federation..
..and a pretty good floor, too (but you gotta watch out for the occasional cross beam running underneath)..
