Nothing. But it doesn't stop it from being fun to do.

I think that's like asking what Kendo is good for. Aside from the full contact aspect of kendo, I don't see either as being very useful in a real-world situation of self-defense...unless you walk around wielding a sword on a daily basis. Actually, if you are good at visualization I could see Iaido as being slightly more useful.

Shintaido looks really cool
its a New Age [un]Martial Art. I would say its more like yoga than anything else. You get to strike some poses and look cool. Probably chat alot about Personal Feelings and stuff. Probably suit you.

Hmm, doesn't look like yoga to me. Looks very spiritual, saw a clip on TV last week.

If i wanted to go and show off my looks i'd apply for modelling.

Really not my thing, hence practicing kendo and yoga.

Go (Wei Chi) and Chess, seeing a couple of moves ahead is very good for self defence.
Archery
various shooting sports
Kendo and Iaido
Boxing - a long time ago when my reflexes were faster than a sloth's.

I like zanshin the best for self defence, project an aura of readiness and confidence so the troublemakers pick some other target.

I train in Koryu Sogo Bujutsu, so it contains a lot of training material. Iaijutsu, Kenjutsu, jujutsu, bojutsu, naginatajutsu, bojutsu, kusaribukijutsu, etc.

I was interested in Shintaido after reading Ken Williams articles about it. I then saw it on Mind, Body and Kick Ass Moves and it lost all it's credibility. I don't go in for psychic sensitivity training or pretending to be under the control of your sensei once he touches you with his jo and you run around the garden screaming...

I recently had to promise my orthopaedic surgeon that I would give up all things that involved me flying through the air and crashing to the ground (at least those that did not involve parachutes) as I have apparently used up seven of my nine lives. Otherwise judo and jujitsu are worthwile endeavors for you.

You're going to move your house/trailer?
He he!

No, I'm looking to buy. The area in which I'm looking is near to a town where there is an Aikido dojo whic is open on a night that I'm free.

I guess I didn't make it clear, judo and jujitsu but I have given them up on advice of my orthopaedist because I have busted my body up so much over the years. I have seven fused vertibrae in my neck from an accident between me (on foot) and a car doing 60 mph, a couple of lower back operations, tons of broken ribs, arms, wrists, collar bones, fingers, toes, legs, concussions not to mention several other exciting things.
Just kendo now.
