i don't like missing practice. mainly due to the fact, if i miss a practice, it will take me two or three practice to get back to where i was before i missed the practice.
does anyone have same issue? i hurt my heel 3 weeks ago, and today was first day back into full practice with ji-geiko and all, and i felt like i just couldn't get anything right. even slipped and fell during ji-geiko. i'm sure some people just pick things back up without a hitch even after missing practice for a whole month.. or two. what's the trick for catching up quickly? pete |

I had to stop almost entirely for about three years in total, due to college. I was able to resume consistant practice a few months ago and was well aware of the rust I had built up. The only thing I found as being effective was practicing more. So, I practiced 4-5 times a week instead of the 1-2 I had formerly done. Consistant effort and doing exactly what my sensei told me to do did the trick after those few months. I really don't think there's a 'quick' way. Obviously, mine was an exaggerated case, but it only lends to the idea that hard work and time are the only way to chip off any rust.

yeah just practice more-that way you will catch up quicker.
but go light for now, you dont want to re-injure yourself. im guessing your heal might not be fully fixed yet, so that may be slowing you up. ive just moved back home so i can do lots and lots of martial artsy stuff. missin all my mates and i have no job, but atleast im training nearly every night of the week now-wahoo. just keep it up, it'll come back. your sensei will understand as well no doubt. ![]() |
