Default So Anxious
Hey guys/gals..

Well I've been in search of a Kendo dojo in my area for some time now, i started out in FEb and after shifting through and watching so many classes I've decided on going to the Long Beach dojo for training. I am going to my first class tomorrow night Already bought my shinai..I'm so excited and anxious...i can't wait..!!

Wish me luck, and if you have any first time advice please let me know..i'd love to start learning on the right foot. Thanks to everyone that helped me too...This forum is awesome!!!

Good luck on your path, as long as you listen well to what your sensei and sempai are explaining to you you'll be doing fine.

Have fun

93 posts and you haven't started kendo?

Advice: Learn everything in class. Don't ask questions here. Ask them in class.

Hope you had fun in your class

Just a note, I have met a lot of people who started kendo with a friend or two. Don't be surprised if your friend doesn't stick it out. It is just the way it is.
BTW, you will make a lot of new friends at your club. It is amazing how letting someone hit you with a stick (or miss Do) is a great way of winning friends

I wonder how many kenshi came to kendo with a friend who still practices?

Congrats.

I started with 3 people I knew, Im the only one of us 4 who kept going. If your friend DOES drop out, dont feel obligated to do the same.
Good luck!

My first class was awesome, hard work but I loved every moment of it...I learned Kata #1 both offense and defense...the only thing I found hard was understanding the sensei teaching me because he has a pretty thick accent..but I didn't mind he was so niice. So I'm probably gonna be asking a lot of questions here only because I don't want to be rude...or probably ask other members certain name or techniques because I don't know what they are called. Like Kata #1..i don't know how to say the names in japanese for the offense and defense...but other then that I loved IT!!
