I think if a sempai would trow his hakama to me telling me to fold it because he deserves this respect that I all of a sudden would loose all ability to fold a hakama and create all kinda false pleats in it making him think twice next time.
I have alot of respect to my sempai but I don't think you show it by folding their hakama. |

The fact is that many people on this forum probably dont understand the system, or have a very skewed or academic-only understanding of it. I think you have to live here (Japan) and see it. Being non-Japanese, you can choose to step out of it or, if you participate, its kind of like being a 'special guest' or something. I guess if you stay here long enough then maybe you get to become a full-time participant at some time (Hyaku?). Kendo is different from a work environment as you get to hit your sempai, so thats good. There is only one Gibbo. |

Well Neil I don't and if I would deceide to practise there I would have to learn the rules that come with practising there once I would make that step. |
