Default PC Game - Nobunaga's Ambition
Hey there,
One of my students recommended a Japanese PC game to me and I was wondering if anyone has played it? It's called Nobunaga's Ambition - Chronicles of Chaos. It's made by Japanese software co, Koei. I'm guessing they have an English version (she's Japanese and has played the Japanese version).
Any comments or reviews on this?

I HATE Ninja Gaiden! I can virtually flawlessly get all the way to the last boss and I just can't beat that last part!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! The bane of my existance!

Although it was a cool game for creating the cinematic scene, unless I am wrong I am pretty sure it was the first to do such a thing, at least in the states.

One game that I've really enjoyed playing and still can't seem to "win" is Shogu, Total War. I have spent countless hours developing my properties, growing my armies, battling, and I still end up losing in the end.
Great game, great challenge, and I recommend it to anyone!

The original one ? If your not Uesuigui (spelling) or Hojo it's just about impossible.. one of those 2 eventually steam-roll across the map

Takeda is unbeatable ! Cavalry rules, with Takeda it is so cheap you can just spam it in big, unstoppable hordes ! With maybe a couple of archers to lure the ennemy in an ambush...
And don't buy muskeets to the portugese, the warrior monks are sooo much cooler !
(Damn I spent too much time on this game)

Don't underestimate masses of yari samurai with archers to reduce the cavalry numbers before they even make contact and then yari samurai keeping formation, sitting up hill, and smacking the cavalry to bits while I flank the enemy remnents with my own cavalry.... every unit and every strategy can be squished... hell, I beat the game with the nodachi army... hence my forum name... I really liked them at the time... it sounds wierd, but the yari samurai are my favorite now...

aye.. I wait till the Dutch show up.. Takeda huh? might have to put that in and re-work my strategy.. Do you try and sack Mori first? or Hojo?

Wow! I thought I was the only Shogun-TW geek out there! Now I feel a little less guilty playing that game when I should be doing something more productive instead. I guess I just have to convince my wife that.
In regards to strategy, I'll have to try some of the tips you've given me here. Maybe I'm spreading my armies too thin too quickly....

Everyone falls for the old 'bait them with ashigaru, warrior monks in the trees' trap. That plus hordes of naginata and the odd geisha assasin will win pretty quick. Mori all the way.

get the expansion with the mongol invasion! Those bomb throwers are great...if a little easy to kill... Just to show how sad I am I also have the rest of the games in the series... currently hooked on the Rome Barbarians. Have found a cheat to access the armies you cant usually use so I AM the evil horde.. My son is buying a new pc that allegedly unlocks further expansions, so massive units of elephants will shortly be roaming under my power... YOU WILL ALL SUBMIT TO ME!!! ( Evil Ming the Merciless laugh Muhahahaha )

I'm still short the Shogun Warlord / Rome Barbarians.. I can't get Medival to work on my XP home.. worked fine on my 98 machine. Is Rome Barbarians worth the cash?
