Default Do u stomp on bugs/insects?
do you just stomp them

or do you stomp and grind/drag (which) them?

If you do the former, well it's a million x smaller than you, why?

If you do the latter...you're evil.

I only kill bugs on purpose when they've invaded my home. Give an ant an inch, and his whole fucking colony will get inches too, leaving you with millions of inches of pest-invaded space.

Like omnis I only kill insects that are either a danger of damaging, biting, or infesting my space. I don't kill them out in the 'wild'.

before i had kids, i used to leave them alone. now with kids, i kill anything that looks remotely like will hurt my kids. and even if they don't look like they will hurt my kids, but small enough for one of my kids to eat it, i kill it before my kids gets to it.

I only kill the ones in my house, but I go about it quite cruelly. For ants, I like to suffocate them with dishwashing liquid until they can't move anymore.

Heh, and I kill only some of them (like the rest - ants in the house, cockroaches if there are any, etc). I do not kill (even if they are in my house) spiders. Somehow I do like them (yea, reading too much Spiderman when I was achild ;-) )

Depends on species and location.
Do not like yellow jackets - stomp and grind, burn the nest, stomp and grind survivors.
Bees are beneficial, tend to just shepherd them outside if in the house.
Ants - stomp inside, spray nests in proximity to house.
Moths, fireflies, soft capture and release outside.
Spiders, varies, some I leave alone some I stomp. Have been nailed by venomous spiders twice, second was a brown recluse and the site of the bite went cancerous some years later requiring surgeons to cut a chunk out.

Well, growing up in the Adelaide Hills in Australia, the country with the most poisonous spiders and insects, I grew up with a healthy respect for them, catching them and putting them outside. The only time I'll kill something is if I have pets or am living with pets and even then, only white tailed spiders and red back spiders. Everything else gets caught and released.

When I was still at home, there was a massive centipede, a good twenty/thirty centimetres, in my bedroom. Even that bugger got caught by my dad and released. Snakes if they formed a burrow in our garden would get smoked out and released by my parents. After all, it's not their fault we build our homes in their habitats. I can't be bothered wasting energy on being afraid or hateful of something that there's no reason to be afraid of.

I can understand Manuka's view though, having such a bad experience, but like I said, if there's a true danger represented then it's a survival issue.

Oh, and spiders in the dojo generally get stomped cos there's nothing to catch 'em in and everyone's in bare feet. Especially the time there was a white tail right near the door scuttling around where everyone's shoes were.

Yea, having small children around does put a whole new spin on bugs. They will put anything and I mean ANYTHING in their mouths. I used to pretty much ignore spiders in the house. I figured either they'd eat some other bug which was more likely to bother me or starve out and leave. Now they get squashed.

Ditto... I used to hate spiders a lot but now I just walk to some other part of the house, and hopefully when I come back they are gone. Wasps... I loathe (LOATHE) wasps... wasps+tupperware+microwave=happy camper. I don't mind bees at all... and I usually don't take the time to kill ants unless they are popping out of the ground in heaving masses... then I just go and cover them up with that powder stuff.

Whoa, what a boring part of the world I must live in !

Indoors = very occasional teensy-weensy harmless spider about the size of your smallest fingernail. The occasional woodlouse. The odd housefly or wasp in the summer. Nothing else. Rien. Nada.

BTW what the heck is a yellowjacket ?

Yellowjackets are kinda like bees (in appearance), but their stingers aren't barbed so they can sting and sting and sting to their hearts content. They are considered "good" insects b/c they kill alot of pests, but they can be aggressive to humans too. Used to be a big annoyance back home in Ohio.

The only insects ive intentionaly killed were mosquitos, not just because they sting but also because they always zoom in my ear when im trying to sleep, i really hate that. oh and sometimes moths (those little goldy ones) because they often aggresively fly in my face for some reason.
All the other ones i leave or if they're a bit big i catch them and put them outside.

If you worked on an orchard, you had to knock down wasp nests with bats or sticks so now, I have to extract my revenge. Smash them into pudding!

I don't kill any bugs unless they are mosquitoes. For every other insect that enters my house I use a matchbox to trap them in and then release them outside. The only reason I kill the mosquitoes is because I can't catch them alive and the buzzing sound drives me insane.

No, bugs cover the entire gamut of religions, some are muslim, some are christian and, in eastern europe, some are even ultra orthodox jews (you can spot them by their cool hats).
