If you gonna check out the latest bikini fashion, makes sure your wife/girlfriend isn't with you, not healthy. Come to think of it, leave the kids with mom or you get something like this: "Mommy we went to the beach with daddy, he said the bikinis babes looked REALLY GOOD".

There is kendo in Orlando, Sattelite Beach, and Miami.

And there is really no good advice while staying near Disney, your going to pay through your nose with everything.

Amen to that. How old are your children? You should hit up the magic kingdom, but definitely go to Epcot if your kids are at an age where they will remember things forever (like... over 2 or 3, I guess). Epcot is fantastic for a cultural and scientific experience, and the Magic Kingdom is great for the imaginatatory and whimsical side. That's how I feel about it, anyway.

You should be comfortable at some place on international drive. They have a bunch of hotels. Last time I went there, we stayed at the courtyard marriott and it was a good and reasonably priced experience.

You MUST try the "Sky Coaster" in nearby Kissimmee. 300 foot drop on a tether...

Do you have any friends who have timeshare weeks? We had one friend who needed to ditch a week and was able to trade and get a condo at Orange Lake, about 10 minutes from all the Disney parks. Nice place and we got it cheap. Other friends of ours have rented/traded houses, not sure how they made the contact (probably internet).

Gotta check out the Kennedy Space Centre (about 90 min drive) if you have any interest at all in that sort of stuff.

Didn't hit Epcott but the other Disney parks are a lot of fun and so are the Universal ones. The Universal rides skew older (more scary, more wet, etc) than Disney. We packed lunches everyday, didn't see anyone else doing that. Food prices are pretty steep, so you can save coin that way.

Tip - they have lockers at all these places, store your lunch (if you bring one) and a change of clothes for everybody. You can get pretty wet and then you'll be cold unless it's a hot day - the change of clothes is nice to have. This is especially true at Universal which has a lot of water rides (at least the one we went to - we missed one of them).

I didn't like Animal Kingdom so much. If you do go, though, make sure you don't go in the summer or whenever there is an apparent heatwave. We had a bad time largely due to the incredible heat. Haha.

It's nice to go to Epcot between Thanksgiving and Christmas. My school's choral department always gets invited to perform up there, and the three times I've been there to do the show the weather has been beautiful. So, nice weather and a free christmas candlelight concert is always a good thing.

Take Neil's advice, too, of course. Have fun with whatever you wind up doing.

Yeah I thought animal kingdom was a let down. I liked MGM and Epcot the best. MAgical Kingdom is real fun at night when they shoot off fireworks.

There are very strange things that happen when you are at disney...

I live in florida and one thing I can tell you that we have a lot of is BUGS. When you are on disney property you will not see one fly, one mosquito, or one roach. What on earth do they do that makes the ENTIRE property free of pests?

Another you will notice if you stay at a on site hotel is the disney bunnies and squirells. They will walk up to you until you can almost touch them, then they will make a face that says "feed me". Very strange when can you ever get that close to a squriell.

I know my spelling sucks

Hi Linguyen-San

Magic Kingdom is a must and your kids will certainly enjoy the Animal Kingdom given their ages....

When they're a little bit older (say in 3-4 year's time) then your really must visit Epcot... It is my fave...!!! MGM Studios also falls into this category...

Also, don't forget the Universal Studios... they are certainly worth a visit...

I really must echo Neill's comment ref Kennedy Space Center.... Amazing !!! I went as a birthday treat when we went and did the Disney thing... That was the treat of a lifetime for me... If you check out the NASA site you can find out if there are any launches due... that is certainly a nice cherry on the cake...!!!

Also, I would recommend buying one of the guides to Disney (the unofficial ones) which give advice on what time to turn up and how to minimize queuing times (especially important with small children).

If you stay in a Disney Resort Hotel you can get early access to some parks before any other visitors... noe that is a real bonus...

If the weather isn't too good , or if you want something really great for an evening (even for the kids) then I recommend DisneyQuest...which is in the Downtown Disney West Side entertainment district. Check out : http://goflorida.about.com/od/disney...isneyquest.htm

Finally, if you like water then I really recommend a visit to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon... they are a real blsat if the weather's good.

Have a fantastic time...!

Cheers

Be sure to bring your kids to that huge toy store on International Street... if it's still there... I'm sure they'll love it!

Don'ts:
  • Don't take your kids on the "It's a small world" ride, unless you want them to hate you.
  • Don't take your kids on the tea-cup ride, unless you are mentally prepared to deal with large quantities of vomit.
  • Don't leave your kids alone with any Disney World employees; Disney World does not put their employees through background checks, because it's too expensive and too time-consuming

It's been a few years since I went, but we stayed on the Disney grounds and I suggest you look into it. They have 2 hotels that are very affordable!! the ROck and ROll, and the SPorts Hotel. $60 a night I think. The room was nice, had a safe and a fridge. THe biggest bennifits though... you get to enter the parks before the general public ie no lines!! then as the lines start to build up we went for early lunch, or a nap in our room. Also free shuttles to the other Disney Parks.

DOn't forget to go see the Taiko Drum concert. Cant remember where it was Epcot maybe? hope that helps.

Oh yeah. We used those disney hotels for our concert field trip. They're pretty nice. They have some funky architecture. We stayed at Music, which has the western, Rock, jazz, calypso, and broadway buildings. They also have really cool pools.
