Not I, but I have heard that one Japanese man was awarded top prize at a pistol competition. He had practiced with Airsoft pistols, since handguns are outlawed for civilian use.

Yeah I started to do that when I was like 10 years old with the local parish priest - seriously; eventually I started shooting everything up in my room . Walls full of dents etc.....

Are AirSoft the toy rubber BB guns?

I've noticed them increasing in number on the product pages, but the sport shooting folks here still use live ammo (or solid ammo for the pellet guns). Is it popular in other places where you can't use the real stuff?

Well, in Hong Kong you can upgrade them to full metal. With 500fps power.

I got a P90 and a Steyr.

Airsoft is freaking awesome for scenario games, but as far as pain goes and being able to get an adrenaline high it's not all that great (unless you have a CO2 powered gun, then it's just like a pellet gun or something... break the skin). I get a hell of an adrenaline high going paintballing.

One of my sensei is heavily into paintball and we've often joined him. It's great, but sometimes quite expensive.

I have real guns. I use utmost care when using them. I don't shoot at walls or at any living thing that I am not prepared to eat. I do not play games with guns because they are not toys and do not play paintball because war is not a game.
If the parish priest was playing that kind of game with my kids I would go to the police. I would suspect that he was a child molestor.
Perhaps all of the people from countries that do not allow guns to be owned should consider the effects of suppressing things instead of learning to act responsibly.

I airsoft some times with my friends, its darn fun, i prefer to get close to the enemies, you know, sneak up on them, and the kinda like storm them.
I tend to get quite freaked out in longer range fights. Once i shot up my two mags when sorounded by two guys, they found me loading a clip, and i got shot in the thigh at close range, ouch!

If war is not a game (which I agree on) then why do you even own a gun? Guns, as swords for that matter were invented for one thing only and thats for killing another man.

I dont see the link between childmolesting and shooting BB's at paper targets and balloons. He wasnt doing any touchytouchy-feely stuff to any of us.

How about: Perhaps all of the people from countries that do not allow alcohol to be used before the age of 21 should consider the effects of suppressing things instead of learning to act responsibly, so we could have a quiet summerbreak here in Dutchyland without all of the hurling teenage Americans that lay in the gutter because they didnt get some at home

Ignatz can defend himself, but I think he made a reference to hunting that you may have missed. I believe that is another purpose to guns...

Yeah youre right; sorry. It's just that hunting is even less popular than curling around here I guess, so it slipped my mind that people actually do go hunting. As long they don't do it Cheney style

First of all let me say that I used to hunt regularly but stopped several years ago and do not allow hunting on my property. There are several reasons for me not hunting, including the fact that I don't really need to and that, while I like eating wild game, I don't really have the time for it anymore. The last deer I killed was a sixpoint buck that I shot in the head with a Ruger GP100 .357 mag revolver at about 75 yards. I used pistols and bows because it was more of a challenge.

I banned hunting because of the drinking. I didn't want a bunch of yahoos running around with guns while they were drinking (like Cheney who says he had "one" beer, I doubt it but even so, one is too many.) Drinking is fine, just don't do it when you are handling lethal weapons.

Now to the next point, the fact that war is not a game has nothing to do with owning a gun, in fact, perhaps quite the opposite. If you recall your history you know that the US managed to gain independence because the citizenry was armed. In fact, the US Constitution specifically permits the ownership of guns because a "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Please don't misunderstand, I am not one of those nuts that you read about, I just feel more comfortable when the government knows I am armed and hope that it will never become an issue.

I agree with RC about the alcohol, that is exactly my point with the guns.

Finally, as some may recall, before my "midlife crisis" I was a lawyer. I spent 20 some years as a prosecutor and a defense lawyer. I have prosecuted and defended numerous child molestors including several priests. When a grown man takes a bunch of 10 year old kids out to play with bb guns I suspect that the priest is trolling.

I completely agree with you on all points (for a change, hehe ) even tho I still have mixed feeling about gun posession; well not the actual posession but the abuse of it. Then again in your career I might guess you hardly encountered people that shot other people with their own registered gun. People get shot here aswell even tho guns are banned.
Getting back to the priest, I know he didnt molest me but to be honest I cant vouch for any other person. Btw, he didnt take us BB shooting only. He helped me with my guitar studies aswell for example. He had this really cool oldskool electric guitar which he let me use for a while.......
I imagine you encountered alot of bad priests but you still need to be objective about the others.
