It's my left foot. I remember it first starting when we had to do lots of jumping suburi midway through a session as a 'reward' for not winning..
did you hear popping sound? i was in hurry, didn't warm up properly, then into kote-men drill.. i heard tiny 'pop'. hurt like hell for awhile, but still could walk. you might have cooled down enough to cause issue after 'not winning'. usually left foot is foot that pushes off so the heel/ankle/calf needs nice warm up occationally before jumping into the action. now i know better.

I didn't hear any popping sound! And there wasn't instant pain, only the next day following that particular session.

I've been doing battojutsu for about two months now. i started off barefoot, until the wood gym floor starting "tearing" the skin on my toes. to solve that problem, i started wearing tabi. lately, though, it feels like the bottoms of my feet are bruised. my heels and balls (of my feet) hurt when i walk around barefoot in the house. does this sound familiar? would i know the difference between a torn plantar thingy and a bruised feeling?

thanks
J.

im no foot doctor so i dont know.
but,
how hard have you been stamping? and how solid is the floor?
is it just one foot or both?
is the pain only recent?
have you been doing anything that could damage them?

You have a Japaneese flag on your moniker and are asking a question on battojutsu. Are you training battojutsu in Japan? Have you trained in kendo before?

Go see a doctor!

The tear feels like a internal burn when you stretch it, the bruise hurts to the touch. However both can swell and the swelling will cause a burning sensation.
